Main Features Of The Steelbody Bench
The Steelbody Deluxe Weight Bench is fully adjustable with 6 backrest position and 5 seat positions. The dimensions of the bench are 47” L x 25.5” W x 45” H with a seat size of 15” x 15” and the backrest measuring 15” W x 30” H. The back can be adjusted to a maximum incline of 70ᵒ, and the weight limit is 300 pounds.
This bench can be used to train different parts of the body, including the chest, core, and upper and lower limbs. It's ideal for both lifting weights as well as general strength training.
The Steelbody's padding consists of 2-inch thick foam covered in sturdy faux canvas vinyl. This allows for both comfort and durability, and the non-marking foot pads are equipped with end caps to prevent floor scraping when moving bench around your home gym.
It comes with transport wheels that fold up when the bench is in place. When you need to move the bench into storage, simply fold it, lower the wheels, and pull or push it into storage using the built-in handle.
The Steelbody Deluxe Utility Weight Bench comes with a 10-year manufacturer’s warranty. This means that if something goes wrong, like a seat cracking or the vinyl padding splitting after very little use, the manufacturer will step in and take care of the problem.
Packaging & Assembly
This bench comes partly assembled and is fairly easy to put together. Assembly can be done by just 1 person, and it shouldn't take longer than 30-45 minutes.
It comes with instructions, hardware, and all of the required pieces for assembly. At 53 pounds, it is fairly heavy, so it's best to assemble the bench in the location you intend to use it.
However, some users have reported that it can be a bit tricky to put together as there are multiple pieces that all need to be properly aligned for the bench to work as it should.
Price Guide
The Steelbody Deluxe falls in the midrange pricing category. It's not the cheapest option on the market, but it's also not the most expensive.
The only complaint in regards to cost is that users would expect a higher weight capacity than 300 pounds for a bench at this price point.
My Experience Using The Steelbody Deluxe
Frame & Adjustability
The number one thing about the Steelbody Deluxe Utility Weight Bench is the fact that it’s designed for multiple forms of weight lighting. Users can get a full-body workout, and it can handle everything from arm and leg strengthening exercises to core and chest enhancements.
The overall frame of the bench is constructed from powder-coated steel. The feet are padded, which not only prevents it from moving while you lift, but also keeps it from scratching the floor.
The bench comes with an adjustable backrest pad that moves and locks into 6 different positions including flat, military, and inclined. On top of this, the seat can be moved into 5 different positions. This allows for complete workout customization, and I found that making adjustments was fast and easy.
Between the seat and the backrest pad adjustments, users can turn the bench into their own personal weight room – all you're missing are the weights themselves.
Comfort
Both the backrest and seat are fully padded. Even when in a reclined position, this bench wasn't lacking in comfort. The padding is covered in heavy-duty vinyl that is easy to clean and scratch-resistant. This will keep it looking nice over time, and as an added bonus, any weights placed on the vinyl padding are unlikely to cause damage.
Although the bench met most of my needs, I personally felt that the seat is on the small side. I do like the fact that it is contoured for comfortable positioning of the legs, but it could benefit from a few more inches of surface area.
Height & Weight Limitations
Although the weight bench is very sturdy, it’s somewhat lightweight, coming in at a little over 50 pounds. It's capable of holding up to 300 pounds, which isn't much compared to other weight benches that can support 700-800 pounds.
The seat base and backrest will comfortably hold people who are less than 6'. Anyone taller than that may have issues with their head hanging slightly over the side when in the fully reclined position. When the seat is inclined, this won't be an issue.
