As a GNC brand, Beyond Raw LIT AF promises to boost athletic performance, build lean muscle mass, and aid in focus.
However, every pre-workout supplement claims to do the same, and if my decade-long experience has taught me anything, it is not to trust the marketing.
So, I bought the LIT AF and tested the pre-workout supplement for three weeks to see if it holds up.
Let's look at my Beyond Raw LIT review to find out.

Beyond Raw Lit AF Pre-Workout Pros & Cons
Beyond Raw Lit AF Pre-Workout Review
If I had to cram the whole Beyond Raw LIT AF review in a single word, I’d call this supplement very good and better than the standard LIT formula.
The choice of Raw LIT AF ingredients is more than fine; the dosages are much better compared to other products available on the market, and while I do have a few bones to pick with this one, I definitely wouldn’t scold the effectiveness of Raw LIT pre-workout.
I am always on the lookout for a potent formula, and if you are, too, then rest assured that your quest may as well end here, as this one comes with quite the caffeine kick.
That is if you don’t mind paying a mighty premium.

My Ratings Explained
As you clearly see above, I’m really displeased with the price of LIT AF pre-workout. Paying nearly $3 for a pre-working serving simply doesn’t make sense to me - no matter how good the formula is.
Just off the top of my head, I can name 5 products that offer “more for less,” but more on those later.
On the bright side, the ingredient profile of Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout is more than good. Most of the ingredients in here are (or can be) beneficial, and their dosages are excellent almost across the board.
Consequently, I found LIT AF pre-workout to be very, very effective, day in and day out, and there’s no reason for anyone else to say or feel otherwise.

Will My Performance Increase?
Yes, your performance will increase if you take Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout. If there’s one thing I’m sure of after three weeks with this pre-workout, it is that it will ramp you up and get your blood pumping.
For instance, I managed to set my squat PB several weeks ago, and I was using LIT AF during that time.
I’m not saying you’re poised to hit your personal best as soon as you start using Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout, as that would be ludicrous.
However, I am saying that it helped me get in the zone, set my mind straight, and muster the last ounce of strength I had in me that day.
The energy, motivation, and courage it gave me were simply excellent. I was riding this caffeine buzz for the entirety of my workout. My mind was clear, I was in complete control over my form. I was easily controlling the weight during the eccentric phase, my mind-muscle connection was super strong, and I genuinely felt more powerful.
Again, the difference wasn’t massive, nor was I feeling like Superman. I just had it in me, the whole time, to push and pull those weights around without even thinking about giving up a rep or two early.
Dropsets felt easier, supersets felt great, and even the StairMaster didn’t feel like a punishment.
Also, my pumps were lit. Pun intended.
How Will I Feel Post-Workout?
I can’t speak for everyone, but I felt darn good post-workout, and I’m thankful for it. Post-workout hours felt good, I didn’t crash, and I was able to sleep like a baby after a few hours.
Truth be told, I was expecting this to be the case, but you can never know with pre-workouts. Thankfully, Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout did me good.
My mood was great after I was done, even though my body was tired from lifting. I still felt energized to do more work, as long as that didn’t involve moving heavy things around, although I’m sure I could’ve done that, too.
My focus was also elevated, and I genuinely didn’t feel that overexertion haze that can happen to the best of us when we go harder than we should’ve.
What Are The Possible Side Effects
While I only experienced one, there are a few possible side effects that can occur from taking Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout, and those are:
Just like many of you, I’m doomed to experience beta-alanine tingles every time I take it. Even 1.6 grams gets my skin dancing.
I’m super sensitive to it, and at 3.2 grams, the itchiness around my neck, face, and arms was quite annoying.
Thankfully, I don’t think it ever lasted for more than 15-20 minutes, so it’s usually gone by the time I’m done with my first exercise.
One thing I will say is that while I didn’t experience any jittery, anxiety, or stomach issues - you might. It will all depend on personal tolerance to stimulants and how strong/sensitive your stomach is.
What Flavors Are Available And How Do They Taste?
Beyond Raw LIT AF comes in four different flavors:
While I am a fan of limited flavor selections, I can’t say Beyond Raw pre did a good job here. I tried all four, and I’m not impressed.
I enjoy sour-tasting pre-workouts, so Icy Fireworks, Lemon Ice, and Sweet and Tart did hit the spot in terms of initial taste, but they all tasted quite similar.
The only one that’s distinctly different is the Gummy Worm flavor, which were quite delicious and sweet.
But the bigger issue for me was the texture and aftertaste. The drink felt chalky, and after I’d drink it, it just felt like there was powder in my throat.
Also, the taste lingered far longer than I anticipated, which was annoying.
Thankfully, a glass of water would solve the trick immediately, but since that’s kind of “cheating,” I thought you’d want to know.
Is It A Fair Price?
Beyond Raw LIT AF is definitely not fairly priced. At $2.75 per serving, LIT AF is one of the most expensive pre-workout supplements on the market.
Now, I understand that the ingredient prices are on the rise, but still, you could go online and get all of the ingredients (as separate, branded supplements), mix them all up in a shaker, and apart from a horrid taste, you’d get the same effects for around $1.1 dollars.
Of course, you’re paying for the convenience of not having to store 10 bags and tubs of supplements in your cupboard, but still, you have to ask whether a 150% price difference is justified in the long run.
I’d say not.
Who Is It Best For?
Based on its design and active ingredients, I’d say Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout is best used by experienced gym-goers, runners, athletes of all sorts, and folks commonly engaging in CrossFit or HIIT workouts.
Due to its relatively high beta-alanine dose and inclusion of creatine monohydrate, Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout could be a decent choice for someone with an already established supplement routine.
LIT AF’s “well-rounded” approach could streamline the supplementation process a few times a week, which the above-mentioned folks might appreciate.
Who Is It Not Good For?
As is the case with most pre-workouts, Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout supplement is not suitable for everyone.
Even though I found it easily tolerable, its potent stimulatory nature may not be the safest option for everyone.
That said, here's a brief list of who might want to avoid this supplement:
I also wouldn’t recommend Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout to those who have never tried pre-workouts.
LIT AF pre-workouts' effects, such as sudden energy rise and beta-alanine tingles, could be quite overwhelming for someone unfamiliar with them.

Tips For Increasing Performance Using Beyond Raw LIT AF Pre-Workout
Beyond Raw LIT pre-workout is a pretty well-rounded formula, so any tips for increasing performance using it aren’t necessarily aimed at modifying the supplement itself.
Doubling up on scoops or mixing it with other boosters might not be beneficial and could even be counterproductive.
For best performance, try doing what I do. Focus on having a balanced pre-workout meal, ensuring you're well-hydrated and well-rested.
These minor diet and lifestyle adjustments can massively amplify the benefits you reap from LIT AF (and the workout itself), ensuring “synergistic effects” for “optimal performance,” as many fitness influencers like to say.

Ingredients - Effectiveness & Amount
Caffeine per serve
Citrulline (Malate) per serve
8 g (2:1)
A dose of 250mg of caffeine anhydrous combined with 50mg of slow-release caffeine will offer a potent and long-lasting stimulatory effect.
Its effects are well-known and well-studied, so much so that in the 90s, some studies even suggested that caffeine be classified as a banned substance.
Luckily, that never happened, and we can now enjoy the fact that caffeine can boost alertness, enhance cognitive function, improve power output, and reduce the perception of fatigue during exercise.
In addition, caffeine (and coffee) has been shown to increase fat oxidation and improve exercise performance, particularly in endurance sports.
Learn More - Pre-Workout Vs Coffee
Citrulline malate, a combination of the amino acid L-citrulline and malic acid, is the go-to ingredient for massive pumps.
Research shows that citrulline can enhance nitric oxide production, leading to improved blood flow and widening of the blood vessels. This results in better nutrient delivery to the muscles, potentially increasing exercise performance, especially in high-intensity, short-duration exercises.
When combined with malic acid, citrulline is supposedly much easier to absorb and is, in turn, more effective.
One thing to note, however, is when taken at a dosage of 8 grams with a 2:1 ratio, you’re actually getting 5.33 grams of citrulline and 2.67 grams of malic acid, which is slightly below the clinically efficacious dose for improving sports performance.
However, as you’ll see in a bit, this deficiency is supplemented with another NO precursor in this formula.
Synephrine/Bitter Orange Extract
Apart from caffeine, Beyond Raw LIT AF does not contain any other stimulants.
Adenosine 5'-Triphosphate Disodium
As for all the other performance boosters in the formula, the most notable ones are definitely beta-alanine and micronized creatine powder.
The inclusion of 3.2 grams of beta-alanine in the formula can help buffer lactic acid build-up, potentially enhancing performance during high-intensity, longer-duration physical activities - such as cycling.
However, keep in mind that beta-alanine, much like creatine, requires that you saturate your muscles first.
Speaking of creatine, this is a well-established ergogenic aid that supports ATP production and increases muscle mass and strength. However, I don’t find it particularly beneficial in a pre-workout setting because it doesn’t offer any immediate effects, and at 2 g, it would only amount to 40% of your daily maintenance dose.

Betaine has been linked to enhanced power, improved athletic performance, and endurance, but the data is all but ironclad.
Taurine is another common pre-workout and energy drinks ingredient presumed to delay the onset of fatigue and potentially boost muscle protein synthesis essential for building lean mass, only this time, the evidence is slightly better.
Nitrosigine, the NO precursor I mentioned briefly when we discussed citrulline, is a patented arginine silicate inositol complex known to enhance nitric oxide levels, promoting better blood flow and nutrient delivery to muscles. It is supplied at a presumed ideal dose, and unlike some other words of L-arginine, this one actually does work.
Finally, we have 400mg of PEAK ATP (Adenosine 5′-triphosphate) and 150 mg of Alpha-GPC.
Orally supplemented ATP, such as PEAK ATP, has been proven not to work, so this one’s a fluke.
On the other hand, Alpha-GPC (alpha-glycerol-phosphoryl-choline), a popular cholinergic compound used for enhancing cognitive performance and power output, can be somewhat beneficial. That said, the minimal clinically efficacious dose is 300 (with the optimal being closer to 500 mg), meaning you won’t get to reap many benefits from a dose this low.
How I Felt When I Took Beyond Raw LIT AF Pre-Workout
Here’s my experience after taking Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout, split into notable periods.
Within 15 Minutes
The initial impact of LIT AF was swift. I won’t say it was like flipping a switch, but I felt a surge of energy coursing through me within 15 minutes.
My senses sharpened, which didn’t really help with the pins and needles sensation from beta-alanine that came at the same time, but what can you do? At least my desire to lift was rising.
Overall, 15 minutes in, it was more than evident that the pre-workout was kicking in, preparing me for the workout ahead.
Within 60 Minutes
Within 60 minutes, I was deep into my workout routine, usually performing a third or fourth exercise of the day, and I felt good.
I still felt strong, my muscles felt full and surprisingly rested, and the fatigue that often sets in mid-workout seemed quite distant.
With every set and rep, I felt like I was in complete control of the weight. I could hone in on each muscle, pinch, relax, and brace wherever I had to, and my focus was laser-sharp. In other words, every movement was deliberate and effective.
Also, the pump at this point was so massive. I literally looked 20% bigger than I actually am. That was nice, not going to lie.
After 6+ Hours
Post-workout, the energy persisted. As I said earlier, I was riding the energy wave for a few hours, and while it was subtle, it was enough to make post-workout chores manageable and even enjoyable.
As the evening approached, it was clear to me that I wouldn’t have any issues sleeping later that night, as I simply felt the familiar post-exercise tiredness but nothing more.
Lying on the couch felt super nice, but then again, it wasn’t necessary. I didn’t crash once while using LIT AF pre-workout, and unless you’re super sensitive to caffeine or you take this thing first thing in the morning, I doubt you will, either.

How Does It Compare To Other Pre-Workouts?
Beyond Raw is a well-known brand, but there are a lot of popular brands out there. So, how does Beyond Raw stack up against other popular pre-workout supplements?
Beyond Raw Lit AF Vs Cellucor C4 Extreme Pre-Workout
Cellucor C4 is inarguably one of the most popular pre-workout brands out there, and C4 Extreme is one of the five C4 pre-workout supplements and the one that costs exactly the same as Beyond Raw LIT AF - $54.99.
However, instead of 20 servings, C4 Extreme gets you 60 - completely obliterating LIT AF in this regard. C4 also tastes better.
Now, upon closer inspection, it quickly becomes evident LIF AF has a much better formula, both in terms of ingredient selection and dosages. Truth be told, C4 Extreme is horribly formulated, with every ingredient except caffeine being severely underdosed, so this was a fairly easy victory for LIT AF.
All things considered, while both are pricey for what they offer, LIT AF wipes the floor with C4 Extreme, despite being precisely 3x more expensive, as it is simply that much better.

Beyond Raw Lit AF Vs Ghost Pre-Workout
Ghost has emerged as one of the most popular brands with a high following due to the flavors of their popular pre-workout supplements. In my opinion, Ghost pre-workout wins the taste battle by a landslide.
In terms of effectiveness and ingredients, the battle is far less lopsided, but still, I have to give another victory to Ghost. Their ingredient profiles and dosages are very similar, but Ghost includes tyrosine, which tips the scale in its favor as far as I’m concerned.
And finally, the Ghost pre-workout is a much, much better deal ($1.70 to LIT AF’s $2.75).
An easy win for Ghost pre-workout.

What We Have Taken Into Consideration For Giving You A Final Verdict
Before we move on to my final verdict, let me tell you a bit about myself.
My Expertise In Supplements
Over the years, I've delved deep into the world of health and fitness, with a particular focus on dietary supplements.
My journey began out of personal interest but soon grew into a passion as I noticed the effects these products had (or hadn’t had) on both my athletic performance and overall well-being.
Along the way, I've come to realize most of the fitness industry is a fad, so I armed myself with experience, talked with various experts, and poured over scientific literature to ensure I stay up to date and not talk out of my behind.
Reviewing Other Products
My endeavor in reviewing extends beyond just pre-workouts. It encompasses a broad spectrum of dietary supplements - from vitamins to performance enhancers.
I dive into each product with the same vigor and scrutiny (especially the latter), and I never lie. For example - fat burners are a waste of money.
My reviews are a blend of personal experience, scientific backing, and a bit of harshness, and I believe this “holistic approach” ensures that you gain not only insights into a product's efficacy but also its relevance and necessity.

You should take Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout approximately 30 minutes before starting your training. This should give you enough time to fully experience the stimulating properties of the drink.
You can take Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout on an empty stomach. However, keep in mind that if you’re overly sensitive to stimulants, this could cause you gastrointestinal discomfort, as well as jitteriness.

LIT AF doesn’t build muscle directly. However, the formula allows for more strength, higher endurance, lower muscle fatigue, and better muscle contractions, helping you work harder or even add reps and sets to your routine, which can build muscle faster.
In summation, the GNC-branded Beyond Raw LIT AF pre-workout supplement is a high-priced product that promises a lot.
It is undoubtedly potent, and it will definitely make you perform better, but if you’re anything like me, you’ll agree that this one’s objectively overpriced.
That said, I wouldn’t discourage you from using it if you don’t mind the cost, as I’ve felt it work, and it is a viable option to choose.
At the same time, I could easily point you in the direction of a product that’s awfully similar to LIT AF and also save you a few bucks in the process. You just have to look down.
we recommend this instead!
