I decided to make this comprehensive guide on the best mini exercise bikes available today, mainly for two reasons.
First of all, many people aren't even aware that mini exercise bikes exist, so this guide is all about telling the world that it is in fact possible to find an ultra-portable cardio option.
Second, I remember my father buying a portable exercise bike about 20 years ago, and even to this day, he's still using it!
If you're unfamiliar with the mini exercise bike, it's a small peddle machine that sits on the floor.
It is low-profile enough to fit under a desk or table, or you can even place it in front of the couch and peddle as you catch up on Netflix.
Just like any other exercise bike, mini models provide a low-impact workout that's great for bad knees or sore joints.

Lets start by clarifying that this review focuses on mini exercise bikes which are otherwise known as:
- Pedal Exercisers
- Peddlers
- Floor Exercisers
- Floor Pedal Bikes
- Portable Exercise Bikes
- Peddlers
- Mini Stationary Bikes
These are different to under the desk ellipticals as pedal exercise bikes work like bicycles and focus on the 'cycling' of the legs.
Ellipticals focus more on a push and pull motion which means you go up and down more than around. Hopefully thats all clear!
There are many brands of floor pedal exercisers on the market so myself and our team at Garage Gym Pro team began by creating a list of all products we could find in this category.
That long list was trickled down to 12 and these were models were purchased, examined and tested with daily use by 3 people within our team.
We then discussed these small exercise bikes and narrowed down our list to a top 9 as we felt these all deserved a place in this article.

The portable peddler by Sunny Health & Fitness made it as first on the list of best portable mini bikes.
The main difference between this bike and its competitors - and the reason it's #1 - is the design.
It looks like a modern vacuum cleaner with a handle for simple portability, and it's only 19.1 pounds, which makes it easy to move around the office or home.
The LCD is simple yet effective, displaying stats for time, speed, ODM, calories burned and distance.
There's a knob just below the LCD that can be adjusted to 8 different magnetic resistance levels, ranging from barely any tension to lots of tension.
I love that this mini bike is designed to support up to 220 pounds of weight. Not many manufacturers list the maximum weight capacity for their mini bikes, so I find it really cool that this one does.
I also love the fact that the bike can be placed on top of a table and easily used as an arm exerciser.
The assembled dimensions are 20.5L x 16.5W x 10.5H, so just make sure you have at least 12 inches of height if you plan on using this under a desk or table (this shouldn't be a problem).
My only complaint is that the rubber feet attached to the base are quite small, and depending on the surface you're pedaling on, you might need to add some additional support to keep the peddler from sliding.
Aside from that, you might need to retighten the pedals occasionally, but this is fairly standard bike maintenance.

Another fella who rightfully made it to the list of the best mini exercise bikes is the under desk exercise bike by DeskCycle. The name says it all.
This portable mini bike is built specifically to fit under a desk or tabletop, all thanks to the low-profile design.
You'll notice right away how low to the ground this peddler is; the maximum pedal height is only 10 inches, and according to the manufacturer, you can safely use the mini peddler under desks that are as low as 27 inches.
It's slightly heavier than the previously reviewed mini bike, weighing in at 23 pounds.
The DeskCycle can be adjusted to 8 different levels of resistance, and it uses a magnetic system to create tension.
The LCD multi-functional display reads out stats for speed, time, calories burned, distance and scan. So far, all of this is pretty standard.
One thing that's not-so-standard, though, is the fact that the company makes it really easy to track your exact calories burned.
Although you'll get a fairly accurate reading directly on the LCD, you can check the exact amount on the company's website by using the online calorie calculator.
The main flaw is the price. It has a hefty price tag tacked on, so you have to be willing to spend if this is the mini bike for you.
Luckily, Amazon and the company itself is always offering coupons and discounts, so you should be able to pay less than the price that's actually listed.

Another excellent addition to this list is the Yosuda Under Desk Bike, which has been featured as an Amazon's Choice product in 2022.
Featuring eight different resistance levels and an impressive 260-pound weight capacity, this bike can easily help you stay active.
This low-impact exercise style is perfect for desks and is very quiet when in motion; you can efficiently work out and focus without distracting your coworkers or family.
While pedaling, you can easily switch between forward and backward motions to activate different muscles and keep them toned.
Whether on the floor or under a desk, this bike is a great fitness tool for busy office workers and elderly folks looking to keep fit.
The sturdy ABS frame rests on four anti-slip rubber pads that keep the mini bike from slipping as you cycle.
Wide adjustable foot straps help keep your feet comfortably secure throughout each rotation.
Yosuda’s mini bike features a large and easy-to-read monitor that tracks vital metrics, including time, distance, speed, and calories burned.
The compact, lightweight design features a built-in handle for convenient and easy storage.
While this model does need to be assembled on arrival, assembly is quick and easy; this bike even comes with tools alongside the manual for your convenience.
We love how convenient and affordable the Yosuda under desk bike is but do wish it came with a longer warranty than one year for parts.
If the Yosuda mini bike sounds right for you, give it a try yourself at home or at the office to see how it can help you stay active.

The mini portable exercise bike by Vive has been on the market for some time now, and after many years of service in a lot of homes, it deserves a place on our list.
The Vive pedal exerciser comes nearly assembled; you just have to set the tension knob and that’s basically it.
For convenience’s sake, it comes with a quick-setup guide. The bike is 12.5 inches high, so it will fit easily under any desk, so you don't have to worry about the compact design taking up too much space.
The non-slip designed feet ensure that the mini bike will not slide, no matter the flooring. The pedals also come with non-slip material and adjustable toe loops, increasing comfort and safety even further.
There's no specified number of tension levels, but the resistance can easily be changed by turning the front-facing knob.
I personally wasn't impressed with this mini bike's straps; I found them too thin and slightly flimsy.
Also, if you are a tall person, you might have trouble using this under a desk. But even with these flaws in mind, I still highly recommend the Vive Pedal Exerciser.

The Book Cycle Mini Exercise Bike is another great addition to this list. This lightweight and compact mini bike is portable enough to travel with you on long trips or to the office.
Perfect for elderly folks and desk workers, this low-impact exercise style is ideal for desks that are 47 inches high or more and is quiet while in use.
Book Cycle’s mini bike features a variety of handy details that can make your working life more active. For example, the sturdy frame rests on anti-slip pads and can hold an impressive 400 pounds.
The adjustable foot straps are suitable for a range of foot sizes, and the pedals are non-slip for security and safety.
When you need to adjust the tension, the knob makes it both quick and satisfying regardless of tension level.
We love the built-in handle and how large the LCD screen is. This easy-to-read monitor tracks valuable metrics, including time, odometer, revolutions per minute, distance, and calories burned; all excellent for tracking your progress.
While this model does require some assembly on arrival, it comes with a product manual and tools to help you get the job done fast.
Each of these features is great, but we do want to mention that the slip pads could be more effective on certain floors; you may need to use a carpeted or mat floor.
Additionally, some folks have found that the foot straps are not quite big enough for their feet.
Overall, the Book Cycle Mini Exercise Bike is another good option; try it out for yourself to see if it is right for your lifestyle.

This mini exercise bike made by TODO also made it to our list of best mini portable bikes because of its simplicity, usefulness and attractive design.
It's made especially for medical knee recovery, the TODO pedal exerciser is used for total-body cycling at home or at the office.
The bike is designed to increase circulation and improve mobility, all while making very little noise.
This model comes with a big, easy to read multi-functional LCD monitor that displays RPM, speed, time, distance and burned calories. It also comes with a very simple tension knob to change the resistance level.
Designed for long-term use, the reinforced steel frame can withstand 400 pounds of weight.
The TODO brand obviously did not try to save money on materials used; even the bike’s flywheel is made of 5-pound steel. Due to its compact design, the mini bike is both lightweight and portable.
The assembled measurements are 16 x 13.8 x 12.6 inches - so make sure you have enough under-desk space if you're using it at the office - and the product’s weight is 11 pounds.
I personally feel that the rubber feet could use some improvement. They don't provide a lot of traction if there is any unevenness in the floor or tabletop.

The mini peddler by Firstry is a great combination of design and functionality. It definitely deserves a place on this list of best exercise peddlers.
The bike comes pre-assembled - you just need to install the pedals - so there’s no need to worry about assembly.
The LCD display is pretty standard and can track time, distance, speed and burned calories.
As with most of other mini exercise bikes, this one also offers gentle impact on muscles, and it is mainly oriented towards physical therapy.
The pedals are non-slip and the entire construction is quite sturdy, including the heavy-duty inner flywheel.
The peddler's adjustable tension knob allows you to change the resistance levels according to your preferences.
The mini bike is designed for quiet operation, so it can be used in the office or while watching TV.
It's about 9 pounds, so it's heavier than some of the previous models, and you'll need batteries to operate the LCD (not included).

It is easy to see this display while sitting upright at a desk or on the couch for convenient tracking. We love how simple and easy to use this mini bike is as well as its streamlined design.
However, we wish the resistance levels were clearly numbered and that the warranty was longer than 30 days.
Additionally, some customers have noted that the anti-slip pads are not always effective on certain floors; try using it on a mat or rug if possible.
Wakeman has provided an affordable and convenient mini bike that can be used on the go as well as at home.

Lastly, the portable exercise pedal bike by Hausse made it to our list of best mini exercise bikes for its functional simplicity.
This particular bike can be used under any desk that is higher than 47 inches, so you'll definitely want to make sure you have the space. It's available in either black or white, and the half-oval design looks good anywhere.
The big LCD display offers 6 different values: distance, time, count of movements within one session, total count of movements, total calories consumption and scan.
It can be used with arms or legs and the tension level is easily changeable. However, the resistance seems to lag a bit, so don't expect it to change instantly as you make your adjustments.
The portable handle is a nice touch. It's located directly on the top of the bike, so you easily move it around the house or office.
The rugged bottom takes care of proper stabilization, no matter what floor you have it on.
I love that Hausse offers a 180 day warranty, which may not sound like much, but some peddlers don't offer a warranty at all.

5 Benefits of Portable Exercise Bikes Over Spin Bikes
Before getting into the best mini exercise bikes (also called mini peddlers), let's talk about some benefits of using one.
1. Potential to Burn Calories & Lose Weight
Since the main use is for physical therapy, it's normal to wonder if a mini peddler will help you burn calories.
The simple answer is yes, and this is the first big benefit. The pedal movement is the same as with any other stationary or outdoor bike, which allows you to effectively burn calories and burn fat and ultimately lose weight.
However, I should point out that the amount of burned calories will not be as high as with recumbent and upright bikes.
With full-sized bikes, you are involving several upper-body muscle systems as you move the lower body, which leads to more calories burned.
Related Article - Benefits Of Exercise Bikes For Home Gyms
2. Low Profile Design Great for Saving Space
One of the main selling points of mini exercise bikes is that they're small enough to fit under standard desks.
This means you can effectively use them while at the office, while at the kitchen table, or even while watching TV.
3. Lower Cost than Standard Exercise Bikes
Because of the smaller size, mini exercise bikes are significantly cheaper than larger models.
If you're trying to stick to a budget, it's easy to find one for less than $100.
4. Easy on the Joints (Great for Rehab and the Elderly)
As I mentioned early, these bikes are often used for physical therapy and can be used even with injured knees or joints.
This is because there is very little impact as you peddle, and you might argue there's no impact at all.
Another great thing about mini exercise bikes is that you aren't limited to using one strictly for lower body workouts.
As long as you place the peddler on a solid, flat surface (like a desk or table), you can use your arms and hands to pedal and get your upper body moving.
5. Improved Focus
It does take a moment to get used to multitasking cycling with working or reading. However, once you get the hang of it, the pedaling can help minimize restlessness and help you focus.
Give yourself some time to adjust and reap the rewards of increased productivity at work or clearer focus on reading or binge-watching.
How to Choose the Right Mini Exercise Bike (buyer's Guide)

Durability & Weight Support
Just like with traditional exercise bikes, mini models vary drastically when it comes to durability.
Some are cheaply made, and others are constructed from high-quality materials that are meant to last a lifetime - remember what I said about my dad's 20-year-old mini peddler?!
The more durable the mini bike, the more weight it's likely to be able to handle.
However, not all mini exercise bikes will have a maximum weight capacity listed, but if it does, try to find one that's 220+ pounds (this generally means the peddler is made from quality materials).
Dimensions & Weight
These mini bikes are designed to be small, that goes without saying.
However, some are smaller than others, so it's still important to check the dimensions before buying, especially if you plan on using it at a low desk or table.
The weight of the peddler is definitely important to think about since it's likely that you'll be moving this machine around the home or office.

Most mini bikes weigh between 20 and 30 pounds, so try to avoid those that weigh significantly more than this.
Resistance System
Just like your standard, run-of-the-mill bike, mini bikes are designed with varying levels of resistance (at least the best ones are).
Some bikes use magnetic resistance to create tension - this is my personal preference - while others are designed with a friction tension system.
Whichever one your bike has, make sure you go with a model that offers adjustable resistance so that you can change your workout intensity.
My favorite mini bikes come with 8 levels of resistance that can be adjusted simply by pushing an up/down button or turning a knob.
Display Size & Quality
Not all mini exercise bikes come with LCD display systems, but many of them do. Having a display allows you to keep track of your progress in terms of speed, distance, time, and calories burned.
Some mini bikes come with a small screen that's complete separate from the rest of the bike.
This lets you set the mini screen on the table or desk so that you don't have to bend down to make changes to resistance or track your progress.
Noise Levels
You'll definitely want to think about bike noise levels if you're planning on using yours in an office setting.
There's nothing less motivating than a squeaky bike with your coworkers sitting within earshot.
Safety
When considering a mini exercise bike, it is important to confirm that the footrests and feet have non-slip covers; if the bike moves while in use, that could result in an injury or damaged flooring.
Additionally, make sure that the straps are comfortable and secure on your feet while in use.
Price & Warranty
Mini steppers tend to be cheaper than their upright counterparts, often costing $20 or more. This makes them very accessible but also indicates that they are built cheaper and are not as durable.
In terms of the warranty, most steppers are covered anywhere from 30 days to five years, depending on the model and brand.
Read the product description carefully to ensure you know how long your chosen model is covered.

What To Expect From Small Floor Pedal Bikes
Mini exercise bikes are often used to keep active while working at a desk or watching TV on the couch.
Because of this, these are excellent for helping recover from injuries or for getting in your steps. However, they are not necessarily the best for weight loss.
According to the American Council on Exercise, a 160-pound person could burn around 290 calories per hour when pedaling at 5.5 miles per hour.
It can be hard to say what your results will be as there are plenty of factors involved in calorie-burning; use the number indicated on the LCD as a guide if you are unsure.
Additionally, mini exercise bikes tend to be built cheaper and are not as durable when compared to upright bikes.
Certain models of upright bikes, like spin bikes, also encourage you to use your arms and upper body while working out, which typically does not happen with mini exercise bikes.
Common Questions About Mini Exercise Bikes
Are mini exercise bikes any good?
Because of their unusual design and compact size, many people wonder if mini exercise bikes actually work. Well, they do! These mini bikes are great for simulating a cardio workout that's similar to walking or jogging, which can ultimately help you to burn calories, build muscle tone, and improve overall fitness.
They're especially good if you want a convenient cardio workout that can be done while sitting at your desk or in front of the TV.
How long should you ride a stationary bike to lose weight?
If weight loss is your main goal, it's important that you stick to a regular biking regimen and choose a workout plan that caters to weight loss.
For optimal results, it's recommended that you do a 5-10 minute warm up at low resistance, increase the intensity to a moderate level for 3-5 minutes, then switch between moderate and high intensity every few minutes for 20-30 minutes. You can finish up with a cool down for 5 minutes.
Because a mini bike won't engage your core or upper body like a traditional stationary bike, feel free to add in upper arm workouts while you pedal. Resistance bands or small hand weights are great for this.
Where can I find the best mini exercise bikes on the market?
If you want the most convenient shopping experience, then Amazon is the recommended place to buy your mini exercise bike. In many cases, the bike will ship as soon as you place your order and arrive on your doorstep within 2 days.
Which Portable Exercise Bike Should You Buy?
As you can see from the list of reviewed products, many of these bikes are designed for physical therapy purposes, but a lot of people are using them for their general cardio needs.
If you fall in the latter category, you also might want to consider recumbent or stationary exercise bikes as well - these are generally more effective for getting a full-body workout.
If you know that a mini exercise bike is for you, I love the Sunny Health and Fitness B0891, but you can't go wrong with any of the peddlers on this list.
