When it comes to increasing your fitness, there’s no better piece of machinery to do so than an affordable rowing machine.
ProForm has developed one hell of a rowing machine, the 750R. It’s perfect for your home gym, as it’s exceptionally well made, looks fantastic, and is super compact when folded up.
In this ProForm 750R rower review, I’ll be discussing everything you need to know about buying this popular rowing machine and why it would be an excellent addition to your home garage gym.
ProForm 750R Smart Rower (Pros & Cons)
The ProForm 750R rowing machine has been designed for someone looking to take their fitness to the next level while saving space in their home gym. It has a great range of resistance levels and operates smoothly and quietly, so you’ll be able to have a brilliant workout without causing a racket.
Not to forget that the ProForm rowing machine 750R is compatible with the iFit app, so you’ll never have to think about what workout you’re doing; just follow along with the instructors.
It's also worth noting that this rower accommodates taller users with its longer rail; this is something that other rowing machines neglect to consider. So if you’re 6ft or over, the ProForm 750R has your back.
The Good
The Bad
Unique Features Of The ProForm 750R Rower
If you’re looking for a rowing machine, then the ProForm 750R is an excellent choice. Not only does it fold up easily into a compact shape, but it provides you with one of the most comfortable rowing experiences you’ll have.
The ergonomics on this rowing machine are excellent and have been designed to provide maximum comfort while working out. The handle and seat are comfortable, the rail is longer than average for taller users, and the machine functions are easy to use.
iFit® Enabled, 1-Month membership Included
iFit is a world-leading fitness app that comes free with your ProForm 750R rowing machine. It includes thousands of pre-recorded workout classes and has many live workouts that you can join in with each day. All the classes are led by world-class personal trainers, giving you the best workouts you’ll have.
Adjustable Tablet Holder
The ProForm 750R rower comes with a built-in adjustable tablet holder that will hold any of your smart devices, from mobile phones to tablets. This will allow you to connect your tablet to your rowing machine for use with the iFit app that comes free with your rowing machine.
24 Digital Resistance Levels
Having 24 resistance levels will allow you to start low and work up to the higher resistance levels as you get fitter. This will enable you to progress your workouts each week, increasing the resistance levels with the click of a button. The digital resistance can also be controlled by the trainers on the iFit app, which is a great function.
Folding Space Saver Design
If you’re space-conscious and need to save space in your home gym, then the ProForm has addressed this problem and designed the 750R rower to be completely foldable. This will allow you to fold the rowing machine and store it in the corner of your home gym.
5” High-Contrast Display
The display screen is extremely well lit and includes built-in speakers that provide excellent sound.
The essential information such as speed, calories, watts, and distance is clearly displayed on the 5” screen.
I liked that ProForm included a bigger screen than on previous models. ProForm overhauled the display on this rower, and it really changed my rowing game.
Ergonomic, Molded Seat With Oversized Steel Rail
The seat is much more comfortable than any other rowers I’ve used and didn’t leave my glutes in agony. The oversized rail is an excellent touch from ProForm, making the ProForm 750R rower a superb option for taller users. ProForm has developed a super comfortable molded seat that makes rowing long distances a pleasure.
Inertia-Enhanced Flywheel
The Intertia-Enhanced Flywheel provides you with a smooth rowing experience that you don’t get with other rowing machines. This provides you with a steady tension as the nylon belt moves in and out of the rowing machine.
When it comes to sound, this rower is one of the quietest I’ve used; you’ll be able to row more vigorously without having to worry about creating too much noise. When comparing this magnetic rower with air rowers, you'll notice a huge decrease in noise level with this one.
Comfortable Handlebars
As I mentioned previously, ProForm has taken your comfort seriously when they designed the ProForm 750R rower. The handlebars are soft to touch, get extremely grippy, making them excellent for the sweaty sessions that will take place in your home gym.
The handles rotate 360 degrees, which allows the wrists to move naturally without being fixed to one plane of motion.
Oversized Pivoting Pedals With Adjustable Foot Straps
As this ProForm model is suitable for taller users, the pedals have been designed to accommodate larger feet. Not only are the foot pedals oversized, but they pivot too, making them less restrictive and more comfortable. There are also adjustable Velcro straps to ensure your feet stay in place during your row.
Aux Port In Console
There is a built-in aux port in the display console so you can plug your headset into the machine, helping you keep the sound output to a minimum.
Bluetooth Capability
The ProForm 750R also has Bluetooth functionality, allowing you to connect to your smart devices and sync up the rowing machine to your iFit membership account. This will help you track your workouts accurately and maintain a log.

After testing the ProForm 750R, I’ve found that the following factors need to be considered before investing in this rowing machine.
Assembly & Maintenance
The ProForm 750R rower assembly is relatively easy and can be achieved by one person in around 20-30 minutes depending on experience. According to the ProForm 750R rower manual, the tools you need are the following:
Usually, I’d suggest using power tools to help speed up the building process, but the manual states not to use them. This rower is a stylish looking machine that will require minimal maintenance.
To keep the machine clean, simply use a damp cloth to wipe it down after use, removing any dust, sweat, or dirt. If you require any maintenance, refer to the user manual maintenance and ProForm 750r rower troubleshooting advice.
Workouts & Performance
The inertia-enhanced flywheel makes the 750R a dream to use; it provides a smooth moving action that glides silently as you would across a lake. Due to the rowing machine being extremely quiet, you’ll be able to work out early in the morning or late at night in your home gym without waking up your family and annoying the neighbors. You can check out additional quiet magnetic rower reviews here.
One thing I’d like to see adjusted is the handle holder. If you have large feet, you might struggle to hook the handle on its resting station while your feet are strapped into the pivoting pedals. This isn’t a huge problem but can be slightly annoying.
When it comes to workouts, the iFit app is outstanding and provides thousands of workouts that you can choose depending on your fitness goals. They’re carefully designed by personal trainers and are either pre-recorded or live.
One aspect I loved is that you can connect your rowing machine to your smart devices, providing you with accurate workout data that you can track in your fitness apps.
The easiness of this machine makes it perfect for a busy individual who likes to get in their home gym and back out again in an efficient manner.
Health Benefits/Exercises
A rowing machine has outstanding health benefits ranging from increased heart health, greater lung capacity, and improved mental health. From my experience as a fitness professional, the rowing machine is one of the most underrated exercise machines in the gym. Rowers work almost every muscle in your body, so you can get a full-body workout at home.
One significant aspect of using a rowing machine in your home gym is that it’s a highly low-impact exercise and won’t place tons of pressure on the joints like running will. This makes it one of the best forms of cardio for people who have joint problems or perhaps sore muscles from resistance training the day before.
Design & Features
When I look at the ProForm 750R rower, it looks fantastic. Its robust yet stylish steel design will look great in any home gym, and it won’t take up much room either, thanks to its sleek, foldable design.
The 750R has excellent features such as the oversized rail and foot pedals for taller users, the ergonomic grips on the handle, and even the tremendous looking display with a tablet holder.
Overall, if you have the ProForm 750R rowing machine in your home gym, you’re friends will be jealous; it looks and performs brilliantly.
Using The Console
The display console is super easy to use and doesn't require you to be a tech wiz. The buttons are clear and pleasant to use, while the display is bright and easy to read.
When it comes to tech that you can link up to your display, the built-in Bluetooth allows you to connect any smart device such as your tablet or phone to the ProForm 750R rower and sync up your machine to the iFit app. You’ll also be able to connect any smartwatch/fitness tracker to your rowing machine and heart rate monitoring straps.
However, one thing that I’d like to see is an integrated smart screen. It may be too much to ask as it’s a mid-range rower, but it would be fantastic if they added this going forward.
Price & Warranty
The ProForm 750R rowing machine sits mid-range when it comes to price and will set you back around $600, which I think is a bargain for what you’re getting, especially when you factor in the free iFit membership.
This rowing machine is best suited for someone who doesn’t want to spend thousands of dollars on a rowing machine but also doesn’t want to buy a cheap option like the ProForm 440R (which I’ll discuss further down the article).
When it comes to the warranty of the ProForm 750R, it comes with a 10-year frame warranty and a 1-year parts & labor warranty. While the 10-year frame warranty is brilliant, I feel like the 1-year parts and labor could be longer.
Comparing The 750R With Other ProForm Rowers
Proform 750R Vs 550R
- Large LCD window, soft touch ergonomic...
- Smr silent magnetic resistance, oversized...
- Pivoting pedals with adjustable straps
- Transport wheels, SpaceSaver design
ProForm is an excellent producer of fitness equipment and has a fantastic range of rowing machines. Both the 750R and the 550R have a slick-looking compact design that can be folded away at a moment's notice and stored easily. This makes them both ideal solutions for those of you who’re space conscious.
However, the 550R lacks a tablet holder, and I feel that the LCD screen is slightly dated compared to the 750R and its LED screen with an integrated tablet holder. The 550R also lacks Bluetooth and can’t be directly linked to the iFit app or your fitness trackers, which is a shame.
Overall, there isn’t too much of a price difference between the two rowers (approx $200); if you can stretch your budget and buy the 750R, you’ll be getting much more for your money.
Proform 750R Vs 440R
- Integrated dual action strength training
- Oversized pivoting pedals with adjustable...
- Space saver design
When I look at the 440R compared to the 750R, the ProForm 750R is miles ahead in terms of quality and features. The 440R lacks smart functionality, and the screen is extremely basic in comparison to the 750R.
However, the 440R will cost you around $300, which is 50% of the price of the 750R, so if you’re on a tight budget and need a rowing machine in your home gym, then the 440R is an excellent choice of rowing machine.
One thing I love about the 440R is that it doubles up as a resistance machine, too, so you can use it for exercises like bicep curls, tricep extension, cable woodchop, and more.
Comparisons With Other Rowing Machine Brands
Proform 750R Vs Concept2 Model D
- Integrated Device Holder allows you to keep...
- Space Recommendations: Assembled: 8 ft x 2 ft...
- Included: Concept2 RowErg, Performance...
- Low impact workout that engages all major...
The 750R and Concept2 are excellent rowing machines for your home gym. But, the Model D will set you back around $900, which is $300 more than the 750R.
Both the ProForm 750R and the Concept2 can be stored compactly. The 750R folds together and is extremely easy to move, while the Concept2 separates into two parts which is an eyesore, in my opinion.
Proform 750R Vs Schwinn Crewmaster
- Large LCD display tracks time, count,...
- Adjustable console provides easy line of...
- Convenient easy-fold design, stows the rail...
- Durable nylon transmission offers quiet, yet...
The Schwinn Crewmaster is a compact rowing machine with an excellent seat and handle design; both make this rower comfortable to use.
However, for a rowing machine that costs $500, I’d like to see more from the Crewmaster. It lacks any excellent features such as Bluetooth and smart capability and is rather basic. It’s also incredibly short, so unlike the 750R, it won’t be suitable for taller users.
Proform 750R Vs Sunny Health & Fitness SF-RW5864
- DIGITAL METER: Use the onboard computer to...
- WIDE RANGE ROWING ARMS: The separate rowing...
- EASY STORAGE: Use the transportation wheels...
- EASY ON/OFF SEAT: The indoor rower sits...
Sunny Health has provided a different rowing machine; instead of using the standard rowing handle with belt feed, they have lever arms for a more authentic rowing boat feeling.
However, I can’t help but feel the saying “if it’s not broken, don’t fix it” comes to mind. If you want something a bit different for your home gym, then you’ll love Sunny Health’s rower. But, in comparison to the 750R, it’s not on the same level.
People Also Ask (FAQs)

ALWAYS refer to the ProForm 750R rower manual for troubleshooting tips. The last thing you want to do is try something that may break your rower and void the warranty.

With a 10-year frame warranty, the machine is definitely built to last. However, if you properly maintain your ProForm 750R rowing machine, you should be able to use the machine long past the warranty.
