8 Best Under Desk Elliptical Machines

Best Under Desk Elliptical Machine

Recently I’ve put together a guide for standard elliptical trainers with dual-action handlebars. But since not everyone has time or place to get standard elliptical trainer, I’ve put together another comprehensive guide about best under desk elliptical trainers.

The main difference, as the name suggests, is that they fit under a desk and do not have handlebars. Also, the main differences among under desk ellipticals are the pedal rotation height and the height of the desk they can work under.

How Do They Work?

Most of these fellas use some sort of feet shifters for easy leg manipulation without the need to use your hands or arms. They are quite familiar with mini exercise bikes, although the leg motion is different. Unlike bike-like movement, here with the under desk, or mini ellipticals, as they are sometimes called, the motion is similar to cross-country skiing. This motion engages minor and major muscled groups and quads, calves, hamstrings and glutes.

What to Look For?

There are some criteria you should look before purchasing the best mini elliptical trainer. I’ve outlined them below.

What to Check Before Purchase

Pedal rotation height

This is one of the most important feature to look for. Pedal rotation height is provided in inches and gives you the basic idea of how high the pedals can go, therefore how high your knees and thighs will be. This goes hand in hand with the 2nd spec to check – the desk height.

Desk height

If you plan to use the mini elliptical trainer under your work-desk, then make sure to double check the space below the desk and its height. You need to be comfortably ski-pedaling without the possibility of injuring your knees by hitting the desk.

Stability

Make sure to check if the base of the elliptical is stable, either on its own or via some quality rubber legs or padding. It would be quite uncomfortable if the mini elliptical kept moving around under the desk.

Price

If you combine all three features above and you are finally satisfied, you can cross-check price of your winners. You would be surprised how much they different in this area. I’ll stick with the best and most affordable ones in this list, however. If the price will differ a bit much, I’ll note it in the description or in the pros & cons.
