It’s no secret that building your own gym at home can be time consuming and expensive – especially if finding the motivation to workout doesn’t come naturally to you.

That’s why we were so excited to take part in this BodyBoss review. A complete home gym system wrapped neatly in a 15-pound package? Yes, please!

The BodyBoss workout package includes a VectorFit base that you will stand on for all of your exercises.

It's comfortable and will give you a solid floor to stand on while also including rubber footing to ensure your floors stay safe.

The only downside here is that if you're working outside or on an uneven surface, it might not be 100% stable.

Next, you have your workout bar. This collapsible bar, when assembled, is 42 inches long.

It includes comfortable handgrips and allows 360-degree rotation for you to perform various weight lifting exercises to target major muscle groups, including bar curls, squats, deadlifts, and more.

The resistance bands are where you can personalize your BodyBoss system because they offer the accent color to your setup.

You can choose from Black, Blue, Gold, Yellow, Green, Orange, Pink, Purple, Red, Gray, White, and Silver.

Each band will simulate from 0-30 pounds, depending on how you anchor them. Most of the packages on Amazon come with 4 of these bands, but a few of them only come with 2, so make sure to read the fine print when ordering.

Also included with your BodyBoss gym set are straps that can be used for comfort or for cardio boxing (which is great for losing weight), handles that will take the place of dumbbells, and a door anchor that will bring the cable fly machine to any door in your home.

My favorite feature of the home BodyBoss system is how versatile it is. You can literally set up for any movement that you’d perform in the gym in seconds and hit your entire body. And if you’re feeling unmotivated?

There are hundreds of follow-along YouTube videos online that will give you a complete workout. Their YouTube channel includes lots of fitness programs for training, physical therapy, or active recovery. There's even a bikini body guide with specific bikini body workouts.

When you’re done with your gym workouts, you can slide the whole system underneath your bed or away in a closet, no problem. (I wish I could say the same about the equipment I used for cardio days!)

The significant drawback of the BodyBoss 2.0 is that it only comes with a 14-day guarantee. To us at Garage Gym Pro, that doesn't garner a lot of confidence in the product.

However, we haven't heard of many people having issues in this area. If you're concerned, it may be worth purchasing the 2-Year Protection Plan via Amazon for $15.99.

BodyBoss claims, “Half The Space, Half The Price,” but we might argue that they go well beyond that. This home system takes up so little room, and all for under $200 at full price.

We’ve even seen sales on the product for as low as $120. So even if you think you might want to upgrade to full-sized equipment down the road as your fitness level improves, this is a product not to be overlooked.

Pros & Cons Of The BodyBoss 2.0

When you want to get a workout in but don't want to pay for gym memberships or leave the house, the BodyBoss 2.0 is there to help, allowing you to do a multitude of exercises at home for a small one-time fee.

Here is a quick overview of the BodyBoss gym.

What We Like

  • Ultra-portable
  • Affordable complete gym at home
  • Great for beginners looking to lose weight
  • Different packages/colors available
  • Comes with exercise program
  • Easily folds/hides away

What We Didn’t Like

  • Base not completely flat on grass / uneven surfaces
  • Will need to replace bands over time
  • Not suitable for very short people (5’ and under)

Unique Features Of The BodyBoss 2.0 Gym

A portable home gym that weighs 15 lbs, can be stored anywhere, gives you a good workout, costs less than $200 while allowing over 300 different exercises? It almost sounds too good to be true.

But that is literally the most precise description of the BodyBoss 2.0 and it can be a real life changer. Check out some of the most notable features below.

Compact & Lightweight

Altogether, the system only weighs 15 lbs. The BodyBoss 2.0 can fold up to a compact 17" x 20" x 2" and includes a 42" collapsible workout bar.

This makes this home gym system effortless to hide away under your bed or in a closet, or even travel with!

The kit can easily be put in a suitcase and taken on your business travels or vacation, which means no more germy hotel gyms or going without your daily burn.

High Quality Design & Manufacturing

BodyBoss was created by a group of fitness enthusiasts who wanted to create an affordable home gym that users would be excited to use over and over again.

Their company is headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, and although the manufacturing location is not disclosed, they use only the highest quality of materials.

It has a VectorFit base fitted with premium heavy-duty metal anchors that can each withstand up to 500 lbs of force.

In addition, the bands are covered with a non-latex scrunchy cable cover that will prevent snapping on your skin and getting stuck on your hair.

Versatile Exercise Opportunities

Whether you want to work out on your own or follow along with BodyBoss 2.0 exercise videos, this equipment can be tailored to your body shape and individual needs.[1]

The resistance bands can be adjusted to your fitness level and easily maneuvered to perform certain exercises like squats, deadlifts, shoulder presses, good mornings, bicep curls… the list is endless.

The equipment can be used for your lower or upper body, building muscle mass, or even for high intensity training.

Mini Workout Guide Included

The BodyBoss method shown here is ideal for beginners because, for under $200, you get everything you need to start a home gym, including a pre training program and a mini BodyBoss workout guide.

The guide includes visuals that will help you with both setup and proper form. This includes an actual program to help you lose weight and build strength.

Multiple Add-On Options & Attachment Points

You’ll get everything you need to get started in the BodyBoss 2.0 home gym package.

But as you get more comfortable with your BodyBoss workouts, there are plenty of gym add-ons available, from the Boss Ab Wheel to padded door anchors.

You can also buy some extra bands or heavier bands which are good for some HIIT programs and strength training routines.

BodyBoss 2.0 accessories included

The company’s latest feature is a product called RepLoops.

It's a new fitness tracker that will track your weight moved and reps in real-time.

Comparisons With Other Portable Home Gym Brands

BodyBoss 2.0 Vs Gorilla Bow

The Gorilla Bow has the same home gym idea as the BodyBoss 2.0, but instead of a platform to stand on and anchor your bands to, you use a bow and your body weight.

This makes the Gorilla Bow more portable, especially if you choose the travel bundle that breaks down into three 21” long pieces and can be tucked right in your gym bag.

However, you won’t be able to perform as many exercises or hit so many muscles as you can with the BodyBoss 2.0, and in most cases, you’ll be paying more upfront.

This makes the BodyBoss 2.0 a better investment, and it's better for helping you reach your fitness goals.

BodyBoss 2.0 Vs X3 Bar

The BodyBoss 2.0 could easily be considered the little brother of the X3 Bar, which is a complete home gym system built from heavy-duty allow steel and proprietary resistance bands that are famed for having up to 30% more resistance than other latex bands.

Whereas the BodyBoss is built for beginners and home fitness enthusiasts looking for an effective home workout routine. The X3 Bar is built for serious athletes and those with higher fitness levels who are looking to make gains.

The X3 comes with instant access to a premium 12 week workout plan (including a nutrition bundle with nutrition guide), but also a premium price tag (starting at $550).

BodyBoss 2.0 Vs TRX

The TRX is marketed on an all-in-one suspension training, and its major selling point is that you will get free access to the TRX training club app - which will help you build your own workout program.

I would recommend this system if you're completely new to functional training and really want to improve on basic form within squats, lunges, planks, etc.

The price is similar to the BodyBoss 2.0, but it doesn't come with any anchor points, so this set is ideal for those who want to train in nature and anchor to trees or at home in a doorway frame.

Unboxing, Assembling & General Maintenance

Right out of the package, the BodyBoss 2.0 is ready to go, and you can start right away by following along with the BodyBoss Start Up Guide to get your resistance settings right.[2]

The clips are simple carabiners and are easy to attach or remove.

As far as general maintenance for the BodyBoss 2.0, the equipment couldn’t be easy to take care of.

We recommend keeping all the accessories stored away in a bag when not in use to protect them from collecting dust and debris.

The platform can be easily wiped down using gym equipment wipes or gym disinfectants.

Frequently Asked BodyBoss 2.0 Questions

How can you adjust the resistance level of BodyBoss 2.0 portable gym?

There are two ways to adjust the resistance levels of the BodyBoss 2.0. The first way is to clip and loop through the various settings, as shown in this image.

The second way is to add an extra band, which will double the resistance.

You will want to make sure to keep your instruction manual handy, as it is loaded with tips and tricks for getting the most out of your gym.

Is a workout DVD included?

No, the BodyBoss 2.0 does not come with a workout DVD.

However, a high quality instruction manual includes visuals, and there are dozens of short videos that can be accessed anytime on their website to get you started, including a 3 Week Activation Program that guides you through different exercises each day of the week.

Can the equipment damage floors?

No, the BodyBoss 2.0 is safe to use on any flooring surface. There are small rubber spacers to prevent movement and add protection for your floor.

Is BodyBoss 2.0 good for beginners?

Absolutely! This home gym is ideal for beginners because it’s a functional way to learn over 300 exercises with one portable piece of gym equipment.

More advanced users may prefer to purchase one of the packages that include extra resistance bands for a bigger challenge.

Conclusion

The BodyBoss 2.0 is an excellent, budget-friendly way to bring a complete home gym to your space, even if you live in a compact apartment or need to take your workouts outside.

It removes the need for a gym membership and can help you develop an effective exercise routine at home.

We found this home exercise system to be a worthwhile investment, especially for those who are just starting their fitness journey and may be too shy to learn movements in a packed gym.
